Highway 29 Media Company is a public benefit corporation committed to producing independent, public interest journalism for Napa Valley.
Highway 29 was established to be able to quickly step in and raise the money needed to buy and preserve the Calistoga Tribune and the Yountville Sun. With support from local donors and The Napa Valley Community Foundation, we successfully acquired the Tribune and the Sun in 2023. We now operate five award-winning weekly digital publications, newsletters and websites — the Calistoga Tribune, Yountville Sun, Conéctate, Napa County Times and American Canyon Current. With a combination of donors, subscribers, advertising revenue and other support we continue to make significant investments in local journalism, digital technology, and community outreach. Over the past two years we have also been awarded journalism fellows from UC Berkeley and have developed a strong partnership with Indiegraf to support the websites, newsletters and fundraising initiatives.
Highway 29 and the Napa Valley News Group share the mission of building strong, vibrant local news under local ownership. Local news is vital to our community, and the support of the community is the foundation that local news is built upon.
We Operate

Serving Calistoga for generations, the Tribune remains a trusted source for local news, with a dedicated readership in Calistoga and beyond.

The Sun provides in-depth coverage of local events, issues, and community stories, maintaining its role as an essential source of information for Yountville residents.

Our digital platform offering the most important stories from our print editions, alongside additional content, serving as a central hub for valley-wide news.

The American Canyon Current is building a trusted local news source for American Canyon.

Conéctate Napa County provides Napa County news, resources and the latest information that directly impacts the Latino community.

Our Mission
To preserve and strengthen local journalism in Napa Valley by operating community news sources (digital newsletters, print and websites) focused on news, information and local stories that inform and engage people in Napa Valley. Our local news coverage includes the Calistoga Tribune, Yountville Sun, Conéctate Napa County, the American Canyon Current and the Napa County Times. Our publications are locally owned under Highway29/Napa Valley News Group. Our overarching mission is to build a sustainable model for independent locally owned news that keeps our communities informed, connected, and engaged for generations to come.
